Sometimes employers suggest or require that an employee take steps to address a personal issue that is affecting the employee's ability to do their job. Some common referral reasons are a need to learn better anger management skills, resolve a workplace conflict, or determine whether a personal problem, like an addiction or a family concern, may be causing an identified performance problem.
No. Professional social work services are confidential, and unless you consent in writing to information sharing, there are very few circumstances in which I can share your private information with others. You may choose to have me share certain information, like the fact that you have engaged in the activity your employer recommended. I will not automatically report back to them, however.
